Extra income.

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012

I work 8 – 4 everyday. Right after work it’s parent duty. Until 8-9 pm (usually later than that). For this job I don’t get the reward in monetary form. I also tutor 3 times a week. Twice on weekdays and once on weekend. So far I’m grateful that I have the extra income coming in other than from my regular job.  However, it would really be nice if I can earn more. ( don’t we all think so too.. )

The only investment we have right now is insurance that is also a savings investment in case if we would surrender the policy after some years and forex. Hopefully one day we would get to check out annuity quote from some major companies out there and not to mention stocks as well. But gosh, does it seem a little far still. Until then, we need to save and save and slowly invest. That’s all we can do in our effort to get out of the rat race.

Halloween plans

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

Halloween is just around the corner. Though we don’t really celebrate it here, but it sure is something fun thing to do with the children. I am thinking about the things we can do and make at the daycare. The arts & crafts with Halloween theme would be great fun to make and later use as decorations.

Despite the fact that this country does not officially celebrate Halloween, I see that there are more and more pumpkins being sold for halloween. I even bought one 3 days ago just to make a Jack-o-lantern with my little girl. Just for fun and the first time experience. We loved it so much that we are thinking of buying another pumpkin to make another lantern.

Well, although I think that we might have a Halloween celebration at the daycare, I am just not too sure about how to go about setting up the party for the toddlers. Decorations, costumes, Halloween party candy apples and pictures perhaps would be just fine.

There is still about 2 weeks for or less to go, so I hope the others would come up some ideas as well.

Projects.

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

It’s red week at the daycare. Last week it was blue. Being a rather new daycare we still lack quite many teaching materials. Instead of the daycare management, I have to get the materials when ever I have the time. Materials like – craft paper, card paper, paints, and other craft materials. Well, to find where to buy at a good price that is the problem for me. Since I only have a certain amount of budget, I cannot buy materials in bulk.

At the moment I really need lots of colourful cards and a laminating machine. Saw a website called cut cardstock and wish that they would be able to send over to my part of the world. It would be really easy. This is the time when online shopping becomes handy. Instead of I do the walking around and visit from one art shop to another, I can just browse online and let my fingers do the walking as they say.

I work alone for now. But I will have someone to help starting from next week hopefully so maybe that person would be able to help me with material shopping as well. Then I can concentrate on just making teaching materials. Hopefully, the kids would enjoy the craft I am preparing for them to make tomorrow.

Weekend.

Saturday, March 12th, 2011

I’ve got through my second week of work. Still loving it. Ever since I started working, I’m looking forward to weekends. It’s fun to have something to look forward to. When I was just a stay-at-home mom, everyday was in a way weekend. And there would be days when I had no motivation to wake up and do things. I know that when you’ve worked hard for years, you would feel that it is better to be at home, but I’ve stayed at home for 5  years, and I say it feels good to go out and work. For me the only good reason to stay home is when you have a small child. Although my kindergarten take care of kids younger than 3 years old sometimes, well too, but I still feel that children that young should still be with their mothers at least until they can talk or express themselves a bit better. I never regretted staying at home with my daughter.

Even only after the second week with the kids, I think they seem to like me. I am glad that they have accepted me so far. I received my first drawing from a student yesterday. It feels good, perhaps as good as when teachers receive ‘The best teacher’ card and flowers or when coaches receive ‘#1 coach gifts‘. You feel that they cared and they appreciate you. I love getting drawings from my daughter too. We have a special file for those. So that one day we can show her how much we cared and appreciate the little things she did to show her love for us.

Anyway, this weekend is a long one since we have a two additional day holiday. Yay! :) Hopefully I can really get well within this few days. Looking forward to do my best next week.

Sore eyes.

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

My stuffy nose and cough haven’t really lessened when my eyes got all sore and red this morning. I woke up with sticky, swollen eyes. I called up the work place saying that I am not going to work to day. Somehow they managed to get another person to come for 2 hours today to help at the kindy.

I went to see the doctor in the evening and got a bottle of antibiotic drops. Started using it a few hours ago so hopefully by tomorrow the redness would diminish. Or I would have to go to work with a pair or Ray Bans on.

To be  honest, I feel quite embarrassed that I couldn’t go to work for a day when I just started working less than 2 weeks. But being sick is not totally in our control I know. Just can’t help feeling bad about it. Maybe because I was really looking forward to work for so long. All I can do now is to take care of my health a bit more.
