Dream home.

Monday, June 20th, 2011

Our apartment search has been put on hold for a while as we are still considering in which part of the city we would like to stay in. As we are not quite sure which school to send our little girl to just yet. For now I’m just creating and recreating the dream home that we are going to move in.

I know a guy who actually would like to live in steel buildings. Or what I called ‘containers’. I thought he was joking at first but he was rather serious about it. Well, as a saying in my native language goes, ‘Different fields, yields different sort of grasshoppers’. Different people have different preferences. If you asked me, I’d like a small cottage like house to live in. 3 bedrooms with large enough livingroom, a comfortable kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a nice small garden. Living in a city like we are now, that would rather  rare and not to mention rather pricey.

But who knows… At least one can still dream about it. :)

Allergy.

Monday, June 13th, 2011

My other half is suffering right now as the weather turned warm and more and more pollen flowing around freely in the air. We were in the countryside yesterday and the day before thinking that his allergy wouldn’t be so bad but it was. He was in bed most of the time we were there. So our short vacation was cut even shorter. So here we are back to the polluted city.

I don’t mind it much as I’m used to this kind of situation. I can understand his predicament as I too have some sort of allergy. In my case, I have aczema. Not so bad nowadays but I still have flare ups now and then. Oh the woes of having allergies. It sucks.

Only good thing about his allergy is that it is not at every location he would have to suffer a lot. Some areas do have high pollen density while others don’t. Where we are right now in the city, where there are barely many trees, it isn’t bad for him. Where as the weekend house is located, we would be surrounded by nature – trees and plants that produce pollen.

I do hope this August, when we are on our summer holidays, his allergy would subside. I just wish we can look out for rv loans and choose one and get a nice suitable rv that we can travel in so we can still enjoy our vacation without having to bother about pollen density. If he doesn’t feel good in an area, we just start the rv and move on to a better location.

New apartment lookout.

Saturday, May 21st, 2011

Twice a week now I’d go back home from work by bus. The rest of the week when I have to work till 5 pm I just stay and wait for my husband to pick me up. Cause it doesn’t make sense going on the bus then since I’d reach home 1 hour later, just the same as waiting for my husband another 45 minutes and go back by car and reach home in 15 minutes. Same time as going by bus then ,but at least I travel back home in comfort.

So now we are looking for an apartment which is closer to both of our working places. Not only that we also need something spacier as well. Most preferrably with 2 separate bedrooms. This time I would like to have a bigger kitchen that either comes with a dish washer or able to fit one that I buy. More kitchen cabinets and also a detachable metal hose faucet as well. So far we haven’t been looking for an apartment actively just yet as we only plan to move in the Summer or slightly later as our financials permit. But I have nevertheless started to look at classifieds and advertisements just in case.

Our current apartment is comfortable and we have been living here for 3 years. But it is time to move on to a better place.

Staff gathering.

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

The last time we did a staff gathering it was when we went on a hike together. That was in April. Since we are supposed to do a staff gathering every month, it is time for another one soon. A colleague has invited all of us to her home village somewhere in the countryside.  I think it is one of those villages that even seasoned truck drivers who know the country roads like the back of their hands would need to buy truck gps just to go to that place. I’ve never heard of the village nor has anyone else I’ve asked.

I’m not sure yet whether I’d go. But it would be good experience I’m quite sure. So we will see. :)

Studies and work.

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

These days while waiting for my ride home from work, I’d do a little Japanese language revision. I’ve to admit that working has taken a lot of my time that I’ve been neglecting my Japanese language studies. I’m usually always tired after work. It’s frustrating really when you simply can’t do what you want to need to do cause you are just too tired to concerntrate. The only things that I can do after work when I come online is just read reviews – fruit ninja game review or even abdominal cuts reviews for example – or watch youtube clips or just check out items on ebay – online window shopping. In short, things that don’t really require much brainwork. :)

Just not sure when my body will get used to the daily work so that I don’t get as tired. Till then, I’ll just try to make time studying while waiting to get home after work.

Being mommy

Wednesday, May 4th, 2011

When I was still expecting, I remember how excited I was when I starte to receive customized gift baskets for new mom which usually includes items for newborn babies. Looking at how cute the items were I looked forward to the day when my baby would finally use all those things. However, when the baby finally came and when I first realized that I had become a mommy, it was scary to be honest. Scary because I didn’t know a thing about being a mother. I didn’t even know how to hold a soft, tiny little baby, let alone raise it to become a healthy child.

Days passed and experience grew from trials and errors. It was not scary anymore – well, not as much as before at least. Every little development meant a lot. I recall the first time she had her solid food, the time she started making sounds, when she walk etc. 5 years had passed and when I watched her sang in front of her class a song for mother’s day, I felt that all the lack of sleep, the whinings, the cryings, the complaining I received from her seemed to be all worth it. :) No regrets at all. It’s wonderful feeling indeed to be a mother.

Getting back into routine.

Sunday, May 1st, 2011

After a week holiday, we are starting back into routine. Wake up in the morning, prepare and go to work, come back home, feeling tired, take a shower, rest with family and go to bed only to do the same thing again the next day. Not whining about it. :) I’m just glad that there is actually a routine.

Starting tomorrow, it’s my 3rd month working. 2-3 assistants came and go as they were just substitutes. One American guy was the last one who left. He was the sort who travels and work at the same time to gain experience. He went back to the States perhaps this time looking for san diego jobs or was it San francisco that he mentioned?? Hmm

I’m looking forward to tomorrow. I just wish we have more time in a day and plenty of energy to do things with. :)

Get well soon I hope.

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

The boy whom I’ve been tutoring had had and accident not too long ago. Most probably it happened on Monday since it happened at school and that he was fine on Saturday. He broke his spine and in intensive care. :(

So we were told that he must not move as that may cause injury to his nerves. If that happens he may end up in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. That would be one sad story. I’m not sure how they are going to do that, but I know that they are keeping him sedated so that he would be sleeping most of the time. I know about neck braces, shoulder braces, arm immobilizers, but I’ve never seen how they immobilize the back. Whatever it is, for an 11 year old to keep still for more than a month, well… my heart goes out to him. And also his family for having to go through this.

I’ve been seeing him nearly every week since he was 7 years old and I sincerely care about him. I really do hope that he can overcome this.

Easter break.

Friday, April 15th, 2011

Today was the last day of work before the Easter break starts. We have 1 week off from work. Hooray! :) I’m one happy person. When you work or study you always look forward to holidays such as this one. :)

It will be my second month of work when end of April comes. :) However only in September will I get a full contract – complete with tax, SSDI, etc. That’s not too long now though so I’m fine with that.

So after nearly two months of working here how do I feel? I still love the place and I still love the people I work with. :)

Sore eyes.

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

My stuffy nose and cough haven’t really lessened when my eyes got all sore and red this morning. I woke up with sticky, swollen eyes. I called up the work place saying that I am not going to work to day. Somehow they managed to get another person to come for 2 hours today to help at the kindy.

I went to see the doctor in the evening and got a bottle of antibiotic drops. Started using it a few hours ago so hopefully by tomorrow the redness would diminish. Or I would have to go to work with a pair or Ray Bans on.

To be  honest, I feel quite embarrassed that I couldn’t go to work for a day when I just started working less than 2 weeks. But being sick is not totally in our control I know. Just can’t help feeling bad about it. Maybe because I was really looking forward to work for so long. All I can do now is to take care of my health a bit more.
