Even skinny people have it.

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

One of the few websites that I frequently visit is Yahoo Answers. Ask questions and help people by answering their questions. I came across a question asking, how come skinny people have cellulite. Well, I used to be one of those people who thought that only chubby and obese people have them, until I saw a skinny friend who was having it as well. Interesting.

I believe many people don’t really know what cellulites actually are, that’s why, just like how I was, they only related cellulite to fat people. Cellulite is actually collections of fat that push against the connective tissue beneath the skin which makes the skin looks lumpy. Though of course chances of having cellulites is higher when one is obese, but being skinny does not mean the person doesn’t have any body fat at all.

Factors that contribute to whether or not a person has it or how much or how visible it is are genes, age, amount of fat in body, gender and thickness of skin.

So I suppose that explains why they use slim models to promote cellulite cures on commercials. Since it isn’t impossible for slim, skinny people to face cellulite problem as well. :)

Renaissance car.

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Just as usual I am multitasking - reading about irvingia, checking and processing some pictures we took last weekend, posting replies in forums, and blogging. :) Last weekend I took hundreds of pictures on our visit to the transport museum and the park. Looking through some of the pictures, here is a couple that I like. The renaissance car.

Rope operated renaissance car.

Car moves when the rope is pulled.  Sure would need a lot of hard work. No wonder it never gained in popularity. :P

Post your weightloss product review.

Saturday, May 29th, 2010

Being a consumer that tries to shop smart, I have often checked out reviews by other consumers before I decided on buying anything. So much so, I can say that my shopping experiences are good most of the time. In return, I also like to  contribute my reviews of products that I’ve tried, on review sites and also online shopping websites.

The same goes when it comes to weight loss products, if not more important, to read reviews of the products before you buy. There are various review sites out there, but the ones I like most are those that allow real users to give their opinions on the products. Just like what getdietsolutions.com is doing. You can read loads of weighloss product reviews not only by professionals but also users. If you have any opinions on any weightloss products reviewed on the website, you can post your opinion directly on the review page. As an example you can click here for lipozene information and check it out for yourself.

Be generous to share your knowledge, you may be helping many others in making a better choice.

Print it the way you like it.

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

It was not too long ago that my husband set up a company of his own.  Apart from his work, he is doing other things to gain more income for the family. It is a rather new company that we don’t have any stationeries and business cards just yet. So I was just browsing online looking at the various websites that offers letterheads, brochures, envelopes, and business cards printing services.

I tried out printsmadeeasy.com and did a sample business card. Sure was easy to make. This one only took me a minute to complete. You see, there are hundreds of templates to choose from and you can search for the right template that suits your business theme just by searching for the keywords that describe your company. Once the template is chosen, you will be directed to a page where you can do a little bit more customizing - name, position, telephone number, email add, the fonts, colors, etc. Once this step is done, you will be directed to the page where you can place an order. The minimum amount you can order is 20 pieces and can cost as little as $2.99. I think it is pretty decent.

Well, all in all, I think even doing the designing of the card was fun too. :)

Do people still send postcards?

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

Honestly, in this time and age, do people really send snail mails or snail postcards? Though you can count how many times you send postcards or snail mails in a year, but yes, people still do send postcards . I am one of those people. :)
Sure e-cards, e-postcards, emails are quicker ways to send wishes, greetings and messages to friends and relatives who are miles away from you, but nothing can really beat the special effect that real paper postcards can give to the receipient ( and the sender too). You can send postcards for family members for Christmas, or greeting postcards for every major celebration to show appreciation to business patrons.

There are many ready made postcards that you can buy at just about anywhere these days. Of course at the post office, then there’s the souvenir shops, and even at the grocery store around the corner. But what would make postcards more special and unique is when they are customized. Another advantage of living in this golden age of technology, you can just design them right from your computer from websites like 123print.co.uk. Choose from thousands of designs they provide to create the card you want and once you’re done you just get them to print those cards for you at low price rates.

All that said, I have to admit… I love sending and receiving postcards.

Unique wedding favors.

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

The tradition to give wedding favours or small tokens to guests to a wedding ceremony has been around for as long as I can remember. In the culture that I grew up in, from every wedding that we attended, we would bring back home a handmade flower with an egg that we call, “bunga telur” or if translated directly would mean, ‘egg flower’. Why? Because it is to be the symbol of  fertility, in the hopes that the newly weds would be blessed with beautiful, healthy children.

However, nowaday, tokens or wedding favours become more and more unique. Like beautifully crafted silver bells.

Or wedding cds with pictures or videos of the couple, or selection of music that means something to the couple, etc.

Or sweets and candies  in lovely, personalized wedding favor bags, or boxes.

All the above wedding favors are from Jean M’s wedding favor collections at myjeanm.com. They offer all those beautiful wedding invitation and accessories that would simply make a girl’s dream wedding complete.

Now, what ever the wedding favors or tokens may be, the aim is to show the guest how they’re effort - to come all the way to the wedding to make the celebration a succesful happy one - is much appreciated.

Modern comfort.

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

If ‘modern furniture’ is mentioned to me, the things that would come up to my mind is, versatility, comfort, fresh & elegant design. These characteristics, I believe, may be some of the reasons why people would opt for modern style furniture. Of all the modern furniture out there - from modern office swivel chairs to modern dining tables - I love the designs of modern couches. We all have got to admit that we do spend quite a lot of time sitting on our living room couch - we read on it, we take naps on it, and watch television while sitting on it too.

Since they are usually one of the biggest pieces of furniture in a room, modern couches designs tends to set the mood of the room that they are set in - Fun, elegant, sophisticated, classy, cosy etc.

In the concept of modern design or modern living, space saving is important. You will find that many modern couches tend to have the slim and sleek designs. Some would even have additional function to them when you can even convert the couches to beds.

I do believe that, if you are looking for a new couch for your home, a modern couch would do no wrong.

Sell your books.

Friday, March 19th, 2010

After years and years of  educating ourselves in schools, and later colleges or universities, I believe many of us would have heaps of textbooks collecting on the shelves or store rooms.

Photobucket

Some people may prefer to just donate them, while others may find it better to sell them off and with the money they can buy new books. Talk about recycling. :)

If you are not into selling on ebay or amazon, here is another place online where you can sell textbooks or any other books that you would like to rid off. Visit sellbackyourbook.com. They even offer to pay for the shipping, on certain conditions of course. Find out more about how and what type of books they accept on their website.

Why ‘Black Friday’?

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

When those in the US hear the term Black Friday, they would relate it to intensive shopping. When I first read the term my first thought was that, something bad must have happened on that day. But later learnt that it was the Friday following the Thanksgiving holidays in America. It is the day when people do their Christmas shopping because it is the time when they can find the best bargains.

As I had searched the history of this term, I found out that, it happened to be first used in 1869. It was used to call the day when the stock market was a major disaster.  But that doesn’t answer why the term is related to intensive holiday shopping right?

Now, as to why the term ‘black friday’ related to holiday shopping, is because on that day it is the time when the retailers making profit during the holiday season. In the times when people don’t use computers to keep their accounts, obviously they keep their books by hand. They usually use red ink to write down the loss, while they indicate profit with black ink. Hence, came the term, ‘in the red’ for making loss, or ‘in the black’ for making profit.

So Black Friday is the day when the retailers make lots of profit. :)
