Easter’s chocolate bunnies.

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

For children, Easter wouldn’t be as fun without having the chance to collect chocolates and filling up their baskets with them. Though Easter chocolates can take any form like sheep and eggs, but the most popular ones are bunnies or rabbits.

It is said that like many celebrations, for example Christmas, certain traditions can be traced way back in the times when Europeans were still pagans. Since rabbits usually breed super quick and can produce huge amounts of rabbits at a time, they are associated with fertility. Now, since Spring is the season of rebirth and life, after long cold months of winter, hence rabbits are related to the month of spring or the time of rebirth and life. Something like that. Now the ones who were responsible for starting to make edible chocolate bunnies ? The Germans. They started making pastries and chocolates in the shape of rabbits since the 1800s. Two hundred years later, bunnies are symbol or the mascot of Easter not only in Germany but throughout the world.

I love chocolates and I love beautifully shaped and delicious chocolates even more. Visited Gertrude Hawk Chocolates website. They are one of the best gourmet chocolate makers around. Saw their collection of Easter Chocolates and just can’t wait for Easter to come.

Easter wouldn’t be complete without these foiled chocolate bunnies, would it?

But having a Chocolate Bunny Pop, Chocolate Bunny Pretzels, and Candy carrots would be a real treat.

My other favourite is the decorate your own egg kit from Gertrude Hawke chocolates.

The reason I like it because I like personalizing things, and I bet the kids would simply love to join in and decorate their own chocolate eggs.

Check out their website for yourself to see more of their Easter chocolate collection.

Easter is one of my most favourite celebration!!
