Genetically a night owl.

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

It sure is difficult to put down a good book when you start reading one. I was up rather late, reading ‘Pride & Prejudice” for the humpteenth time. Only to be able to put it down at about 2 am, more or less. I made myself put it down because I need to wake up at 6 am. 4 hours of sleep. Less than that actually since it took me sometime to drift myself to sleep. Not counting the number of times I woke up.

6 am, I dragged myself out of bed, went to the bathroom, stared at the bathroom sink for a few minutes, (my brain was still half asleep) washed my face, brushed my teeth and went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. When everyone is out of the house leaving me alone, I went straight back to bed. Woke up at 12 pm.

I once wrote about there being no such thing as a morning person or night person. Well, due to my husband’s somewhat logical argument. But I found out that this isn’t true and that research has been conducted saying that some people can be genetically a night owl. I’ve always been a night person since I was a teen. Despite myself trying to get to bed early, I would be tossing and turning in bed till it’s late. Or even when I’m tired due to working in the day, I’d still wouldn’t be able to sleep early and wake up early.

Tough I tell ya, being a night person living in a world where you are expected to be a morning person.

They still got us …

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

I was supposed to check out this interesting free seo software but I wasn’t in the ‘trying new stuff’ mood so I watched videos on youtube. Videos relating to Japanese studies, people and some histories. Then I came to this particular video regarding Japanese invasion in Singapore and Malaya (Malaysia as she was known back then.)

The Japanese occupied us for 3 years. And within that three years, they tried to assimilate the Japanese culture into the local society – make them work hard, teach them to speak Japanese. If you ask any 70 over year old person, he or she would tell how horrible it was to live under the Japanese occupation (My maternal grandparents included). Some of these old timers would even express how much they hated the Japanese.

Interestingly enough, 60 over years later, although the Japanese didn’t physically occupy us, but they still ‘got us’ in the end. Japanese language is being taught everywhere around the world, and people love their culture, people love their animes, their music, their dramas, their technology…. Heck, some people even want to be Japanese. :D

I wonder how people would feel towards the Japanese and Japanese culture after 60 years from now…

Missing the sun.

Spring will officially start on the 20th of March people say. Which means we have a little more than a month left to go. I do not know

why I have this feeling as if we are having a long winter. Maybe because of the frequent snow fall compared to other years? Perhaps. I’m just missing the sun a little bit.

When I think about it… Just wonder how those people live in Alaska or somewhere where the winters are longer. Well, at least they don’t have to worry about finding the right age spot remover when they’re old.

Huh, look at me, expressing my longing for warmer days. When people from warmer climated countries would be longing for colder days. :) I guess people will never be satisfied with what they have.  :)

What I like about the website and what you may find important before you make a decision of choosing a certain hosting company, are the reviews left by the real users. Since they are the ones who are experiencing the services first hand, so they should know better. There are various reviews. From flying colour reviews that recommend a company highly to reviews from very unsatisfied clients.

Besides that, what I also like about them is their blog. There  are very useful guides and tips for the newbies and the seasoned webmasters alike. I have been with my webhost for 6 months now and I have no qualms. That was after making mistakes of choosing the wrong web hosts. It was frustrating. I am actually rather happy with my web host now and hope it will stay that way for a very long time.

If you are new to paid webhosting, there are some webhosting review websites that can help you decide better. One of those websites is webhostingchoice.com. They do the research for you and you do the choosing. It is actually a web host directory site that also provide  guidance on making the right web hosting choice. You may submit a webhosting details onto the website.

No matter whether one is a knowledgable person on webhosting or a total noob, this site is a great place to start.

NewGenerationHosting support is wonderful.

Friday, January 9th, 2009

I am with NewGenerationHosting for nearly half a year now. I did a lengthy review about them the first month of using. The post can be found here.

I have a couple of blogs hosted with them. Another blog hosted on another hosting provider. Yesterday I asked them whether they would transfer that particular blog for me. A few minutes after I sent them the support ticket they answered my question, saying that they would gladly do it.

You see, some hosting providers will not transfer individual blogs. They would only transfer the entire cpanel only. I have two domains on the other hosting and only want to transfer one over. Other hosting providers wouldn’t do it for me.

So they did everything yesterday. By this morning I checked everything is tranferred and my blog running smoothly, nobody even noticed the transfer. They did everything.

After 6 months of using their service, paying less than $2 a month to host with prompt support, my verdict? NewGenerationHosting.com rocks.

It shall pass.

While digging into some personal items, I have found a couple of diaries which I have stopped writing in for years. I flipped through the pages and read a few entries I wrote when I was a teenager  till my early 20′s. I realize how unhappy I was . Miserable would be one of the adjectives that was applicable in my life then. Family problems, financial problems and the passing of my beloved mother.

I haven’t updated the diaries for so long, and since the last entry, my life has changed tremendously. A change that I wouldn’t have thought at the time when I wrote it last. Though the memories of the past may come to me when I least expect, but if I do not allow it to hurt me, it would lose its strength and power over me. Even though the wound is there, the pain of the memories have gone.I am blessed now with a happier life.

No matter how tough a problem can be, just remember that, it shall pass. Though the hurt may seem to be overwhelming, the pain will eventually subside with time.

eVerity Review.

Monday, October 20th, 2008

This review is made out of my own experience with the webhost.

A few weeks back I decided to try out another webhosting. Not that I have changed my webhost. No, so far they have been great for simple blogs like mine.

I tried out eVerity‘s service. Though a week cannot be sufficient to talk about it’s uptime and such, but at least I can say that I was pretty happy with their customer service respond. According to webhostingstuff.com’s uptime statistic, eVerity has more than 99% uptime.

They have 5 packages to choose from. Mini, Standard, Pro, Enterprise, and Semi-dedicated. All of which you can pay monthy or yearly. The space starts at 500 MB with 25 GB Bandwidth (Mini package) for $3.99/month and $3.33/month if you pay for a year. The benefit of paying yearly is, as you see, you get a slight discount plus a free domain. Currently, you may only pay for 10 months and get 2 months free with the free domain included. There is NO CONTRACT. What I like about their service is, you can cancel it anytime and they will refund the remaining months you do not use, minus the cost for the domain though. The domain will be yours.

There is a 10 days trial period for all the packages, except for the semi-dedicated. Therefore, it is not required for you to pay up front for the first 10 days. They don’t have any live support either. But as I have experienced and read from other users of eVerity in forums, they will answer your support ticket or message roughly within 20 minutes. You will get an answer from a guy called James. Though I have a feeling it is not always James who answered my questions all the time, but it’s okay as long as they respond and do a quick work when I need them to do something. They transfer websites from one cpanel account to their server for free.

So if you are looking for cheap hosting with reliable, and fast working customer support, you should give eVerity a go.

Webhosting at $25 for life.

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

Looking for dirt cheap webhosting? Why not check out 2iphost.com ? They offer a $25 for life web hosting package.

  • 100 MB diskspace.
  • Host unlimited domain.
  • unlimited database
  • unlimited data transfer (bandwidth)
  • unlimited email accounts
  • unlimited ftp accounts

I think the space is rather little. But if you just want to host a personal website, blogs, 100 mb is good enough. Further, the account is upgradable. Just pay another $10 for every 100mb you want to add, or $75 for every 1 gb. Yes, this too only one time payment.

They also offer another plan. 2ip pro plan with a monthly billing cycle. $3.75 per month.

  • Free domain name
  • Unlimited diskspace
  • unlimited domain hosting
  • unlimited email account
  • unlimited ftp.
  • Unlimited data transfer.

Interesting that they can offer hosting for a one time payment. Whatever it is, just check out the testimonials of users you can find on youtube and other webhost review websites.

Seemingly for a cheap hosting, they have a good review from users.
