The 90′s hits.

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

My teenage years were in the 90′s. Back then, I used to whine about how cool it would have been to live in the 50′s or 60′s, with the golden era of the beatles, rock and roll, and where people are more relaxed and friendlier. Now when we are in 2010, I say, how nice it was in the 90′s. :) I was still young, still dreaming of the good days to come, dreaming about the man whom I would marry. :)

I was watching through the video clips of all the 90′s hits and came upon this compilation. I would say most of the songs in the video were all my teenage days favourites. Sure does bring a lot of memories.

Even though then, we wouldn’t be able to use iphones, digital cameras, electronic cigarette, nintendo DS, XBox, and all the good things the technology of the millenium brought us, I still miss the 90′s.

Modern comfort.

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

If ‘modern furniture’ is mentioned to me, the things that would come up to my mind is, versatility, comfort, fresh & elegant design. These characteristics, I believe, may be some of the reasons why people would opt for modern style furniture. Of all the modern furniture out there – from modern office swivel chairs to modern dining tables – I love the designs of modern couches. We all have got to admit that we do spend quite a lot of time sitting on our living room couch – we read on it, we take naps on it, and watch television while sitting on it too.

Since they are usually one of the biggest pieces of furniture in a room, modern couches designs tends to set the mood of the room that they are set in – Fun, elegant, sophisticated, classy, cosy etc.

In the concept of modern design or modern living, space saving is important. You will find that many modern couches tend to have the slim and sleek designs. Some would even have additional function to them when you can even convert the couches to beds.

I do believe that, if you are looking for a new couch for your home, a modern couch would do no wrong.

What I’m thinking…

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Spring is here, and the time moved 1 hour forward again. So we lost an hour. It was a little hard to adjust the first day when the time changed. Not only because we haven’t adjusted the time on the clocks around the house, we also misjudge the time since now it gets darker a bit later.

I am looking for an alternative Japanese class right now. I am already attending Japanese class. But my one and only classmate feels that 1 class a week isn’t enough for her. I agree. But the thing is timing isn’t good. I can only go for certain days. In fact I would like to enroll for their Saturday and Sunday classes, but they are only in Hungarian and they won’t allow me to go to that class. So if she leaves and find some other place to learn Japanese, there isn’t much point in continuing since I only joined it because of her (I mean because of another classmate. I wanted to learn in a classroom not one-to-one) I can always find for somebody to teach me one-to-one through the internet at a much flexible time I suppose.

Okay it all depends on her, if she leaves I leave, if she stays, I’d stay too. But I would still look for alternative classes because we’d never know when I may need it. I’m searching for tutors on edufire. com and from a few other websites as well. There are many Japanese online tutors – experienced ones, amateurs, and native speakers. Only problem is when it comes to looking for a reasonable priced one. $40 an hour is pretty steep for me I must say. $10 – $25 is reasonable. But I have to browse page by page. Are there any tutor sites like a term life insurance quotation website? Where I can just check and choose by the rates they charge easily.

Well, let’s just wait and see.

They still got us …

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

I was supposed to check out this interesting free seo software but I wasn’t in the ‘trying new stuff’ mood so I watched videos on youtube. Videos relating to Japanese studies, people and some histories. Then I came to this particular video regarding Japanese invasion in Singapore and Malaya (Malaysia as she was known back then.)

The Japanese occupied us for 3 years. And within that three years, they tried to assimilate the Japanese culture into the local society – make them work hard, teach them to speak Japanese. If you ask any 70 over year old person, he or she would tell how horrible it was to live under the Japanese occupation (My maternal grandparents included). Some of these old timers would even express how much they hated the Japanese.

Interestingly enough, 60 over years later, although the Japanese didn’t physically occupy us, but they still ‘got us’ in the end. Japanese language is being taught everywhere around the world, and people love their culture, people love their animes, their music, their dramas, their technology…. Heck, some people even want to be Japanese. :D

I wonder how people would feel towards the Japanese and Japanese culture after 60 years from now…

Browsing discipline.

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

I love multiple tabs browser. Before I started using mutiple tabs mozilla, I would open websites on a new window. My taskbar would be full of window browsers. I adored multiple tabs capable mozilla when I started using it.It allowed me to browse multiple websites at a time. I would have more than 10 tabs open. Many duplicate tabs. Even now I have all my blogs on, allireviews.com on another tab, 2 of my email accounts opened, a forum that I frequent nearly everyday, Facebook, and My cafe on facebook, and a Japanese website that use to study. They all are dispersing my attention resulting on waste of time. I would browse and browse, opening one site to another until I would find myself lost, I could not figure from which website I started on that made me end up on the current website that I was staring at.

I really do need some sort of browsing discipline. How many times have you found yourself digressing from your main goal when you go online? From now on I would only have 4-5 tabs on at a time. Hoping that I would save on browsing time that way.

Buy products directly from Japan.

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

I was just going through my bookmarks and organizing them when I found a website which I bookmarked and kind of forgotten about it. It’s Tenso.com. It is a shipping forwarding company based in Japan. If you ever tried to buy items from Japan most probably you would know about how some Japanese companies would require a Japan shipping address and won’t deliver overseas. That is when Tenso comes in the picture. You can get them to collect the product you bought and they will deliver it to you for a small fee.

So I browsed around to see the products that I can potentially buy – from body acne treatment to the latest tamagotchis. All you can buy at a cheaper price directly from Japan. Of course I checked the Japanese Electronic dictionaries as well. Hah! the prices are unbelievably cheaper even combined with shipping fees than what I can get if I buy it from anywhere else. I suppose I’ll be getting a e-dictionary sooner than expected?? :D

Eto & ano…

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

If you ever listened to Japanese speakers speaking you may have come acrossed or heard ‘eto’ and ‘ano’. You wonder what they mean? Well, nothing actually. They are equivalent to English ‘hmm..’ or ‘errr…’. Fillers is what some people would call them if they are thinking about what to say next.

In the last Japanese class I attended, the teacher mentioned about this and told us to try to use ‘eto’ or ‘ano’ instead of ‘hmm’ when we were thinking about what to say in Japanese. It was a little amusing to think that we actually have to practice to say, ‘hmmm’ in Japanese?? LOL But if ‘that’ what would make us sound a little bit more Japanese well… what the heck. :)

Yeay… Spring is here.

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

Today for the first time in months we went out only in our sweaters.  The weather was lovely. Not too cold and not too hot either. It’s good bye winter and see you about 8 months later. :) Goodbye to winter time eczema flare ups too.

Spring has just started and we are already planning what we’d do in Summer – barbeque, going off to the weekend house, visiting relatives in another city. I am not asking Spring to end soon though, in fact I am so much looking forward to the flowers, the greenest and the lovely scents of the flowers. :)

The doers and the watchers.

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

I, just like many thousands or perhaps millions of people in the world are just the watchers of sports. Mainly football. Some people I know never even played the game in their lives, yet love the game fanatically. Well, not so strange is it? As we all love a good movie sometimes despite never being actors or actresses ourselves. :)

Boy, am I glad Dneero is back!

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

It has been some time since I last saw any active conversation on dneero.com. It is just simple survey that you fill up, ask 1 question relating to the survey that other participants can answer then paste the conversation on your website so that others may see and perhaps even join too. I sure am glad to see a couple of new active conversations there today.  ^_^
