Medical wikipedia

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Most people who rely on the internet to obtain information, they would definitely have used wikipedia before. It is an online encyclopedia where users can contribute and share information on various subjects. In other words, it is an information website by users, for users.

We can find just about any information on wikipedia, including that of medical topics. However, today I have found another wikipedia-like website that specializes on medical information. The website is called, Ask Dr Wiki - askdrwiki.com. You would be able to find subject on acute abdominal pain to Mesothelioma cancer.

It is just great. Another source of information!

Dreaming of Scotland.

Monday, January 25th, 2010

End of last year, my husband and I decided that this year would be the perfect year for us to make serious plans for our big move. Both my husband and I aren’t getting any younger and so is our little girl. She is growing up. If now isn’t the time, then when?

So currently I am in charge of collecting information on Scotland. Yes, we chose Scotland to be our potential next home. Why? because of the nature, the currently low population (about 5 million. Don’t really like crowded places) and also the education system for our girl. Whether it is a good choice or not, we will know when we’re there.

If you have been moving between countries yourself, most probably you would know how confusing it can be when it comes to collecting infomation about a place you’ve never even set foot in. You have to make decisions based of what people say or advice - which, I must say,  isn’t all that bad compared to no advice or information at all.

Therefore right now, I’m just reading about the law, the living costs, places that is good to stay, not forgetting to check online life insurance quotations, housing rentals, car prices, employment opportunities etc. Not easy, but it’s exciting. :)

Soon to be a pink laptop owner.

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

After a week of reading and searching for a laptop to replace my dear PC that died on me last week, I finally orered a Pink Dell Inspiron 1545 today.

I already know what laptop I wanted ever since last year. It was just that, the specs and the price range that’s within my budget that I needed to look for. Nevertheless, despite knowing what I wanted, it wasn’t any easier for me to choose the right laptop as it would be for me to look for the right herbal weight loss products that would be safe enough for me to consume. It all took so much time to learn about this and that - the processor, the video card, the memory etc.

The laptop is something that I’d like to use for years. So I hope that my choice is a good one. Most importantly, right now, I’m glat that I don’t have to read more about laptop or PC specifications. :)

Still waiting…

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

I’m still waiting for a job proposal to either be accepted or rejected. I’ve been waiting for more than 2 weeks now. Honestly I do feel a little nervous and hope that the answer would come soon. If its accepted, I’d be very happy,if it isn’t then at least I can move on with my life sooner and continue with my plan.

Though I try to be positive, but I can’t help feeling a little gloomy due to how slow things are going. I wish there some sort of ointment that you can use to get rid of this depressive feeling. Something like those joint pain relief ointment advertisements you see on tv. Just rub the ointment and the pain just goes away in an instant.

All I can do for now is just wait on.

Ultimate Creme

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

It was last month when I wrote a post regarding myself trying out the Nivea creme in the blue tin for my extremely dry skin. I’ve been using the cream for a month now. Every single day. The cream is just great and I’m just thankful that finally I have found something to help me handle my dry skin and not cause major break outs while being so affordable. Well, I still have a one or two break outs but not as much as I would expect or what I would usually have to endure with other moisturizing creams.

So has my journey to finding the ultimate moisturizing cream has ended? Hopefully. It happened before that a cream may work for me for some time and after a while it loses its effect. I’m not sure why but sure hope this cream would be ‘the’ moisturizing cream for me for a long time. I really do feel for people who have major skin problems, when it is hard to find the for the right facial acne treatment, body acne treatment, eczema or other skin problems. It really can be so frustrating. And when something finally does work on your skin you’d really feel like you’re on top of the world.

I really do wish that some day there will be this one ultimate cream that will just work miracles on any type of skin.

Financial literacy.

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Most of us go to school for, let say, at least 13 years. Not including a few more years of tertiary or higher education.  They teach us many things in school but not how to be financially smart.  We are trained from childhood, to go study, try to get good grades, come out of school and find a job and work all your  life for money that never seem to be enough. If you are lucky you will end up with some savings, to see you through your old age. If you are not you may find yourself one day old, sick, and broke.

I just finished reading the second book of the Rich dad, Poor dad series early last week. Perhaps it wouldn’t be too much to say that I believe that I have been taught about the importance of financial literacy in just a few weeks of reading those books than  16 years of formal education could ever provide me.  I just wish I could have read it sooner. But as they say, it is better late than never and for one of my age, perhaps it isn’t too late at all.

It is interesting that what ever information Kiyosaki had mentioned in his book isn’t something that you need a rocket scientist to come up with. It’s so simple that it is just so mind boggling that why we and I believe many of us never have thought about it before. That simple yet precious info is how to read a financial statement. Make a distinction of what is really and asset and what is a liability.

So next thing I’d like to read about are about all those investment ‘vehicles’, as the call it. Like investing on - gold coins & bullion, stocks, mutual funds, unit trusts, etc.  Just investing a little bit more of my time to educate myself on such subjects.

New Year, new hopes.

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

I suppose for many people, the year 2009 wasn’t really such a good year - with the global economic downturn, loss of jobs and all. But for us it was a mild year, which means it wasn’t such a good year yet it wasn’t a bad year either. Our daughter got into kindergarten for the first time leaving me plenty of time to do what I wanted and needed to do without distractions. My husband got a new package deal from his employer, 3 days work away from the office which requires him to report to office 2 days only in a week, and also a reasonably good pay raise.

As for me, I am hoping to get a good job offer anytime soon. Though even if it didn’t turn out well, I have another plan coming up for myself. As anyone should know, there should always be a back up plan. :)

I have plans to tutor more students, find myself a Japanese language teacher or class, and learn to sew. Other than that, other things that I’d like to achieve or getting this year: a new laptop perhaps (my pc is getting slower and problematic), some new modern office furniture - smaller desk and swivel chair and also more happy family time together.

Sounds simple doesn’t it? Well, those are my hopes for 2010.
