Cold.

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

Although, I have been told that it is not officially winter yet, but I am quite sure, many of us in Hungary would think that it is already winter. It is so cold outside, it is hard to think otherwise.

Coming from an all year round warm country, the idea of living in a cold place was appealing at first. Now it doesn’t seem so anymore. Disliking it. But I don’t really mind the snow though. Snow is, in my opinion, a somewhat compensation for the cold. Snow has the quality of making things look magical, clean and beautiful.

But since we don’t have snow just yet, I sometimes wish we are somewhere warmer. Looking at some mexico vacation deals on a vacation booking site, can’t help feeling  that it would be nice to spend the winter in some nice locations there.

But alas, we are not that lucky to just pack our bags and go on a trip  anytime we feel. But at least to checking out the pictures there are free. :P

It all started with the hemming of my jeans. I have 3 pairs of jeans which I needed to shorten the length a little. Since I didn’t have a sewing machine, I had to hem them by hand. It took me hours to measure, cut and sew them. Sewing being the tedious one of the 3 tasks.  Later,I also started to sew a couple of soft toy for my daughter. Each one took me hours to stitch. I am indeed a very slow sewer.

Thinking about how many things I would be able to do and make if I teach myself to sew, I decided to get a sewing machine. So for this Christmas, I have asked my husband to get me a sewing machine as a gift. Even a cheap one would do.  Thus, I will be learning to sew right after Christmas. :)

From sewing, I started to crochet back. I still had a ball of white yarn and a crochet needle from 2 years ago. I completed a dresser top mat.

The end result isn’t as neat andnice as what a pro would be able to achieve, but I am sure of proud of myself for making it. :D Last evening I made a no sew tutu for my daughter. Making it the fourth craft I’ve made within 2 months.

Right now I am interested with all sorts of craft work. Browsing and reading about the ways to make craft work – more crochet work, cross-stitch, glass tile art, and more.

Making crafts is satisfying and rather addictive.
