What next?

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

I am browsing around, looking at things from Eagle Creek luggage to scrapbooking materials, to get an idea of what other products I might add to my newly found online webstore.

I am trying to keep myself positive yet at the same time I am feeling slightly queasy inside thinking, ‘what if it won’t work?’. But the courageous part of me would say, ‘no such thing as won’t work. If there are millions of people ‘making it’ in the world, you can make this work!’.

All I need is a little rest now and start again when I’m feeling a little bit more relaxed and fresh.

Stress.

Friday, October 30th, 2009

I’ve been feeling stressful these past weeks. All due to the family being sick, husband’s work ( when he is stressful, its contagious), my own personal project that I hope to get started within these few days.

I don’t like the depressive feeling the stressful state leaves me, but the good side of it, at least I lost some weight. For me, stress is indeed the best weight loss product. But I don’t really recommend it.

Hopefully, will feel a lot better soon.

Morning person?

Monday, October 26th, 2009

I claim myself as a non-morning person. But my husband would argue with me that there is no such thing as a morning person or night person. According to him, human beings are primates and also part of the animal world. Most animals that cannot see well at night would usually sleep when the sun is down and wake up at the break of dawn. When he puts it that way, sure it makes sense. Originally, in the olden times people usually prepare to get to bed when it gets dark outside. However the more technologically developed we are, starting from the invention of electricity light, we humans began to sleep later and later.

So okay, human beings are not made to be a morning person or a night person, we all should sleep early and rise early. But since nowadays, our light bulbs are bright as daylight we can do things that normally we do in the morning. And some people like myself, prefer to work at nights because it is rather quiet since most people are already asleep. But is it something genetic? That we are born to be a morning person or a night person? Nope, just habit.

I guess, I have to agree with my husband. There isn’t such a thing as a morning or night person, but habit would make one either of the two. Although I didn’t really mind to become a night person, but since I have to wake up early everyday to prepare breakfast and all, the habit of sleeping late is taking its toll. I have not even touched 30 but I believe if I don’t start changing my sleeping habit, I better be prepared to be needing tubs and tubs of anti-wrinkle cream. Or botox. No matter whether you are a human being of the 18th century or of the 21st century, enough sleep is essential for health and beauty.

Dropship – earn some extra income.

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

If you never heard of dropship before, it is actually a selling method where the retailer doesn’t hold neither handle any of the stock put up for sale. Customers buy and pays to the retailer, then the retailer would order from the dropshipper, and the dropshipper will prepare, pack and send directly to the customers without disclosing where the retailer got the products from.

For people who are interested to sell things online, but do not have the money to start or place to store all the stocks, you may want to look for a dropshipper. There are so many products to be sold, from cheap clothes, toys, vitamins, hand-made crafts, discount cigar, novelty items, etc.

Though it sounds easy, but it isn’t as easy as one would want to think. The challenge here is, to find an honest and reliable dropshipper and of course to sell the items. Well, the saying ‘no pain, no gain” isn’t there for nothing.

When millions go hungry everyday, some people can buy…

A diamond studded mercedes. This is Saudi Prince Waleed Bin Talal’s 38th car, a diamond studded SL600 Mercedes and is worth $4.8 million. When you earn billions, less extravagant auto accessories would be insufficient huh??
When I checked the hungerreport.org website, it is said about 115 million people in the world are hungry. And there are some people who drive more than one car and afford to encrust their luxury cars with diamonds.

Sad eh?

Skin problems – zinc deficiency?

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

I was already fed up with the occasional rash, constant dry skin and acne I suffer from for years now. So instead of trying to find for an external solution, I have decided to cure the problem from within – taking vitamin supplements.

Do you know that when your body is suffering from zinc deficiency the symtoms includes skin problems? I just found that out recently myself. Although zinc deficiency symptoms vary from one person to another but here are a list of the symptoms:

• behavioral and sleep disturbances

• dandruff

• delay in wound healing

• diarrhea

• different kinds of skin lesions such as eczema, psoriasis and acne

• growth retardation

• hair loss

• hang nails

• hyperactivity

• increased allergic sensitivity

• inflammation of your nail cuticles

• inflammatory bowel disease

• loss of appetite

• loss of senses of taste or smell

• loss of sex drive

• mild anemia

• pre-eclampsia (toxaemia) in pregnancy and post-natal depression

• pre-menstrual syndrome, disturbance in your menstrual cycle

• reduced fertility

• skin dryness and rashes

• white spots on fingernails, transverse lines and poor nail growth

I thought of taking zinc supplements after reading about this and recalling when I wanted to donate blood, they had to check the zinc level before I am allowed to donate. It is always on par, just enough.

So I’ve been taking zinc supplements for about a week now. The result is rather surprising, the itchy rash and dry skin around my neck and arms have subsided.

Sometimes people tend to try cure a problemed skin from the outside when the problem needs to cured from the inside first. So if you’ve been suffering from any of these symptoms stated above, you may want to ask your doctor whether the problem is because of zinc deficiency.

It’s that time of the year again.

To some people, it is rather too early to go for Christmas shopping. For us, who don’t like to do last minute shopping, would rather start looking around. Since we start early, we can look for better bargains.

To be frank, it isn’t really easy for me to decide what to buy for people. Although, we use to say, it is the thought that counts, we still need to get something that would make people happy right? :)

Got my daughter a mp4 player.

Thinking of getting these too…

At the moment, I still haven’t a clue on what to get for my parents in law. I did thought of getting safe, diet pill that works or a slimming corset for my mother-in-law who goes under diet many times to lose weight. A new wallet for my father-in-law. Well, good thing that I’ve started early, I still have time to think.

There’s about 13 more gifts to think about now.

A bit demotivated?

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Being demotivated is just a phase that perhaps many if not all of us go through at times. Currently that is exactly what I’m feeling : Demotivated.

This is the time when I feel like giving up all the exercise routines I do, and take the easier way by taking weight loss pills every day. Burn all my Japanese and Hungarian language books – looking at them now makes me feel like burying my head in the sand. Just can’t look at them now.

I’d like to blame the weather today, but I know that is just an excuse because I was demotivated yesterday and the weather was just fine. This is just one of those time when I feel that it is hard being human. It’s hard being alive. Familiar feeling??

So what is it that do you do when you get demotivated? 3 things I have in mind right now.

1. May sound cliché but this is what anyone wise person would say : Think positive.

As the Hebrew proverb says, “This too shall pass”.

2. Count my blessings.

I may feel that life is hard at the moment, but there are people who are struggling even harder.  Further as some might say, “a problem isn’t a problem if there is not solution to it”. Identify the problem that makes me feel demotivated and try to solve it.

3. Keep busy.

Being demotivated may make one feel a bit lazy. But being lazy wouldn’t make the feeling go away, so  keep on being busy. Do something productive.

Anne Frank was young but she was wise, “Laziness may appear attractive, but work gives satisfaction”.

All these may not work for you, but I feel that anything good to keep one motivated is worth a try.

In need of a vacation.

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

I feel like it has been ages since we last went for a vacation. Now that the weather has started to become colder, the need to go on a vacation where it is warm is stronger.

I’ve read plenty of times about the power of affirmations, the law of attraction, positive thinking and such, so I’m putting the knowledge into action. Browsing and looking at pictures of orlando vacations, carribean cruise vacations, listening to happy vacation related songs and even watching related videos. Doing all this while I imagine myself being in a long needed vacation with my family. :)

It is worth the try. Even right now I’m feeling a lot happier thinking about it. :D

Asbestos usage in Malaysia hopefully to be banned by 2010.

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

After reading about the dangers of using asbestos, I am rather surprised to learn that this material is not already banned in Malaysia. It is said that Malaysia only has regulations on the safe use of asbestos.

Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) has already launched a signature campaign demanding the government to impose a ban on the use of asbestos in the contruction and manufacturing sectors by the year 2010.

I believe countries around the world should have Asbestos legislation enforced. This is because there is no such thing as a safe way to use asbestos since there is always a risk of inhaling asbestos and risk developing diseases like, mesothelioma, asbestosis and lung cancer.

In 2007, 60 year old Hazel Lea, died from lung cancer due to being exposed to asbestos while washing her husband’s working clothes. (source:http://www.eastbourneherald.co.uk/news?articleid=2857574)

I really hope that the goverment of Malaysia would take this matter seriously and would ban the usage of asbestos once and for all.
