Follow the rest of the crowd?

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

If the craze for curly hair is back, the trend followers would rush to be in line with the latest fashion fad. For me, when someone asked me why don’t I go for the new hairstyle that everybody is crazy about, I’d say, “Why is it that everybody has to be a follower all the time? Can’t they just be ‘themselves’?”.

Nothing against looking good. Just don’t get it much with obsessive fashion followers that would put their hairs under so much stress (with all those chemicals and hot irons) just to follow the rest of the crowd.

You Are 60% Addicted to the Internet

You’re somewhat addicted to the internet - but who isn’t?You can keep it under check, and you’re by no means a hermit.

There are about 1,596,270,108 internet users throughout the world. The users growth from year 2000 - 2008 is 342.2 %.   [Information source via internetworldstats.com]

I have been actively using the internet since mid 1997. It was the first time ever I used the computer too. I was hooked ever since. I find the internet to be a treasure trove of information that are easily obtained just at a few clicks of the computer mouse. From information about the historical events that occured on the day I was born to information about the best weight loss pill on the market. So much so that even if I plan to buy something that cost more than $20 I’d go and read reviews about it. :p Now with all the social networking sites like friendster and facebook, multiplayer role playing online games and more, the internet has become a lot more interesting compared to when I first experienced being online.

With all the things you can do on the internet nowdays, hard to blame anyone who are addicted to the internet isn’t it? :)

Warm days ahead.

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

After enjoying cooler days this week, it is time for warm days ahead. It is like that. It was very warm for days last week. Then it rained for a couple of days, leaving us cooler days this week. I was told that according to weather forecasts there will be warm, warm days again. Well, you can’t expect too many cool days when it is Summer.

We bought a portable aircond from an online store last week but after trying it out for a few hours we decided to just pack it up and send it back. Not effectively cooling and  a bit too noisy. So will be hunting again for a new one I think.

Buy.com would be  a good place to look. For you can get yourself a best buy for many of their items. I know that I bought my mp3 player double the price they offered there. Too bad they don’t do international shipping just yet.

Sun and wrinkles.

Monday, July 20th, 2009

Summer is great. Despite the heat, you don’t have to worry about your clothes too much. No more thick coats and heavy boots where ever you go. But the only problem is the UV rays that can be rather dangerous. There is a popular website,  which nearly everyone here visits,  that provides UV alert that tells people when it is not advisable to be under the sun too long.

The sun can be a friend and it can be a foe. We were brought up to believe that sunshine is good for the skin. But they didn’t really tell us that too much of it is not good. The UV ray from the sun can cause skin to wrinkle fast. That is a price to pay for a nice sun tan.

However, nowadays with so many medical breakthroughs being made, there is one particular product that was claimed to really work pretty well to admonish not only wrinkles, stretch marks and also some other minor skin flaws. This product is called strivectin.

No injections, or operations needed because strivectin is a facial cream that you apply on your facial skin just like you’d do with any other creams, 3 times daily. It is said, only within 28 days you will be able to see an improvement on how your skin looks. Wrinkles or stretch marks would slowly diminish.

You may obtain strivectin from many places, but currently you can get a 177ml sized tube at vitasunn.co.uk for only GBP £84.95, when it originall retails at GBP £134.95.

Perhaps in a way it is fortunate for me that I don’t really like to sunbathe because I don’t want to get too brown. So less wrinkles for me then. :)

Like your baby…

When we love our pets sometimes we do tend to treat them like our child. Buy them cute things for example. You buy a scratching pole, a soft pet bed for your cat, or a nice looking dog house or dog ramps for your dog’s convenience, etc.

We got ourselves a little hamster called Hamlet. Cute little bugger he is.

Photobucket

Spent quite a fortune on his cage and other accessories. And yet I am still looking for a better cute little house and a transparent training wheel (not that he hasn’t any that he can use) and other things from time to time. Not that it’ll make him happy, cause he couldn’t care less, but it is just we feel that it’d make him happy.

I’m considering whether to get an exercise ball or not…

Ugly but comfy.

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Isn’t it strange that some ugly looking clothes do have the knack of being very comfortable when worn? Perhaps that is why Ugly Christmas Sweaters tend to be one of the popular holiday gift of all times - especially from grandmas, aunts and mothers. I know my husband received sweaters from his mom for Christmas every few years. They don’t really look that amazing but they do their job well.

If you tend to be an Ugly Sweaters fan or plan to buy one as a holiday gift you can go to one website that dedicate itself to supplying a huge variety of sweaters for all ages. Pet ugly sweaters, Men Ugly Sweaters, Women Ugly sweaters, and Children Ugly sweaters. All, in my opinion, came at a reasonably low price.

Their items is rather limited at the moment though I think, but as I’ve read on their blog, seems like they are growing their inventories and going global with more and more orders from outside the US. I guess ugly sweater parties do take place every where. :)

Browsing through the sweaters I have an idea what I should get for my husband as one of Christmas presents. Just getting to see his face when he first see that he got an ugly sweater for Christmas would be interesting.

Freedom of movement in old age.

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

When one is  old, doing a simple task like going up and down the staircase can be a painful undertaking and even dangerous if one is not careful. My own grandmother stopped going up to the second floor of her own house because climbing the stairs was too painful for her.

It is with such people in mind that the Stair Lifts and wheel chair lifts are created. To make movement in the house for such elderly or sickly people a lot easier. They can continue to move around their own homes independently or with little help - not only to carry themselves up and down the staircase but also other things like laundry, food, and other things.

One of the world’s leading accessibility equipment and home elevator manufacturers is ThyssenKrupp Access. Helping and enriching the lives of many for nearly 60 years. Their latest environmentally friend invention is The Volant - uses 50% less energy than other conventional stair lifts.

The stair lifts offered are not only designed for the mostly used straight staircases but also spiralled ones as well. Being such a useful contraptions the stair lift and wheel chairs are, it is indeed a wonder why they have caught on in Asia or a least where I came from. For I know there are many people like my grandmother who would appreciate having one.

Deserving to look good and feel good.

Tuesday, July 14th, 2009

You can buy all the cosmetic products you can afford to help you look prettier and make you feel better about yourself. But cosmetic products for home usage have their limitations. The result may be too slow or not good enough. I should know better because I’ve tried so many skin care products that I can afford to keep my skin moisturized and acne free.

I’ve seen how a few of my friends finally sought cosmetic professionals to help them with their skin problems. And I’ve seen how happy they were of the results. Though spa treatment can be a little expensive but the results are satisfying and perhaps cheaper in the long run.

I was browsing randomly mmedicalspa.com, one of Atlanta Spas, and read about microdermabrasion. A treatment that involves exfoliating dead skin cells and encourage new skin cells to grow quicker. The result would be beatiful, clear, younger looking skin. The treatment sounded like it’s something for me to consider doing.

Now, spas like M Medical Spa focuses on the best results. Just like what I’ve mentioned before, pay a bit more that what you have to spend on cosmetic skin care products and you will get satisfying results quicker.

There’s no doubt that when one looks good, they tend to feel good too. Don’t we all deserve to feel good? :)

Disappointment.

Still on the topic of cameras. I am pretty disappointed to find out that the place where I had ordered the camera from are unable to restock the Lumix DMC-FZ28. Which means I have to look some place else which are selling a lot more expensive.

There is a nearby shop which sells it less expensive compared to most places, but they only have it in silver. I hoped for a black, but if they too can’t get the black ones for me, I’d have to settle for a silver one instead. Wouldn’t make sense to pay $100 more just for the colour when everything else is the same, would it?

I nearly thought of just going for a different camera. And believe me, I’ve spent hours and hours just to read about cameras and figuring out what would be the best one that I should buy. Imagine how many hours more I’d spent if I were to look for a weight loss supplement, something that I would have to consume??

All this reviews reading and video watching on what the camera can do really is tiring. So much so, the news about not being able to order really pissed me off a little.

Decided.

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

In my previous post I’ve mentioned about getting a Canon Powershot A590is or a Canon Powershot SX110 IS. I’ve decided what camera to get. Neither of them. I’m getting a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ-28.

Photobucket

A 10 MP, 18 x optical zoom bridge camera. I saw that it offers High Definition video recording and the ability to zoom in and out smoothly while recording videos. A feature that I’ve been looking for in a digital camera.

My other half has a big camcorder which he refuses to use. Too big he says, or couldn’t be bothered to handle the battery charging and all. So I’m the camera person in the family, taking photos and videos. An all in one camera is something that I need to do the work.

I have ordered the camera 2 days ago. Usually they’d send within 3 working days, so by right I’d get it by Wednesday. But since they don’t have black in stock so had to wait maximum 3 weeks. I do wish that I can get it sooner though. :) However since this place is selling the camera at the cheapest price I could find, I really can’t complain much. I could always get the silver one, but there are additional non compulsory lenses that come in black. Thus, in case I may want to buy those lenses, it would better to have a black body camera.

Looking forward to take pictures with it.
