May, the month for Mothers.

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

In less than two weeks we will be celebrating the women in our lives whom we call mothers. Most people around the world celebrate mother’s day in May. My own mother passed away nearly 6 years ago and it was one of the saddest events in my life.

My mom was a good cook and great at sewing. So good that she made a living out of these two crafts that she so loved and brought up 9 children. I can still remember helping her out with the donuts and currypuffs and also being taught how to sew a simple stitch when I was 8-9 years old.

Although I was given the opportunity to be with her for over than 20 years I still felt that it was such a short time. The moment I lost her I felt envious of those who still had their mother’s with them.

It was not easy to get used to not calling someone ‘ma’. But perhaps I can be considered luckier than many for I was granted a new mother in the form of my mother-in-law. All these years that I’ve known her, she has been such a sharing and caring person.

I still haven’t got her anything yet but considering a surprise delivery gift. I have 1-800-Flowers gift delivery in mind. I myself am a mother now. Has been a mommy for nearly 4 years. :) I wonder what my little girl will prepare for me.

Funny Japanese Classroom show.

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

When I don’t feel in the mood to practice on my Japanese writings and memorizing words I would watch something Japanese for a change. Especially their humour videos. Although some of them can be plain ridiculous but many are just darn hilarious.

This video is from a Japanese show where a few Japanese celebrities were asked to sit in a class and they’d be shown a video of a Japanese man trying to learn English. That’s the funny part. Believe me, it is funny sometimes to listen to someone speak a newly learnt language.( I speak Hungarian in a funny way I know). Anyway, the rule of the game is, no matter how funny it is, those guys cannot smile or laugh or they will be spank on the buttocks. Looking at them, I suppose the spanking was real.

Watch the video! You don’t need to understand Japanese to enjoy it.

Watch movees online.

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

I suppose most of us if not all may have watched  tv shows or movies online at least once. I usually would check out on Youtube, however, more often than not, I won’t be able to find a full movie on that site.

There are quite a few websites where you can Watch movies on, but you may have to do plenty of searching to find those websites. Now, how about being able to Watch movies online all from one website? You can, you know. At mymovees.com. They have put the movies under specific categories – Adventure, romance, comedy, drama, horror etc – so you may look for the type of movies you may be interested to watch. Or you can browse the movies in alphabetical order.

I’m actually watching “Space Buddies” at the moment. The movie is quite a new movie that came out earlier this year. After checking out a few of the videos, I can say that some of the video’s quality is just watchable, but some can be rather good. ( Like “Space Buddies”. )

So if you love watching tv shows and movies online, you should visit the website.

House repairs.

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Dear husband’s grandmother is 94 years old this year. She is staying all by herself in a house with 4 bedrooms and quite a big garden. Although my husband and my mother in law would go visit and help her with the house chores, the house seems to need plenty of repairs. They are considering to just sell off the property and buy a smaller one. But in order to sell we may need to hire a contractor to revamp the place first.

I wonder whether we have companies like Maxim Enterprises here. They are specialist on property preservation which includes – damage estimates, debris and hazardous material removal, roof repair, winter insulation, lawn maintenance and more. Although, according to testimonies of their clients, they are doing a good job at property preservation it is too bad that they only serve some states in the U.S. You can check their website to know which area they serve and other details on their website at maximent.com.

Getting back to the grandmother’s house problem, we haven’t really decided what should be done with the place. We even thought of just selling it off as it is at a lower price and let the next owner decide whether to do repairs or just demolish the house and build a new one. Either way, contractors are still needed.

Prescription sunglasses.

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

Do you know that you can order branded prescription sunglasses online? 5 years ago maybe you could hardly find any prescription eyeglasses online store but now you can easily find one.

I’ve been short-sighted for more than 10 years and yet most of the opticians I went to didn’t sell any branded prescription sunglasses. Brands like D&G, DKNY, Vogue etc. I saw that they were all made for people with perfect vision.

If you are looking for a prescription sunglasses online store, I suggest you take a visit at opticplanets.com. They are a leading supplier for optic products ranging from, telescopes, binoculars, digital cameras, eyeglasses and more. It seems that they just added prescription sunglasses into their line of products recently.

I like this particular D&G sunglasses. Selling for $151.94. Currently, they are offering these sunglasses at a discounted price. So don’t wait too long now or you may miss the chance to buy at discounted rate!

Better financial control.

Friday, April 24th, 2009

I have heard people saying to me that if you don’t take up loans these days, you may never ever own things – home or car. I agree, especially when you are from a middle range income group. Some things are way to expensive to pay cash and for a house it can be cheaper in the long run to buy a house than to rent.

However there is a danger when taking up loans. If you miscalculate and did not handle your finances well, you may end up not being able to pay up and lose everything. Unfortunately of all the important things in life that they do not teach us at school is financial education.

Due to lack of financial education, some people do get into serious trouble with debts – debt collectors calling, foreclosures etc. Owing to this growing problem of  people getting into serious debt problems you can find companies that specializes on giving solutions to these people to settle their debt easier. One of such solutions, I’ve read, is Debt Consolidation.

To summarize a little about what these people at Debt Consolidation do is, they provide free financial consultation, free financial and budget planning, assist in debt management and also help people to consolidate all their debts into one monthly payment. You can read in details about this at Debtconsolidation.com about this.

If anyone ask me about financial control, my main solution would be not to take any loans for as long as I can and help.

Sweet looking clothes.

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Few weeks back, just as the weather just turned warmer, we packed our winter coats and boots. Never wanting to see them again for a long time. Then out with the Spring and Summer clothes which we packed and stored months ago.

I never thought myself as a fashionable person. But I like wearing something that is rather fashionable or pleasant to the eyes and at the same time comfortable. To me both these qualities are equally important and one should not be looked into more than the other. These days I’m quite into long tunics and gypsy blouses – cotton preferably. Jeans have been my all time favourite piece of clothing.

Here are a couple of tops that caught my eye when I was checking out simplybe.co.uk. A website where you can buy beautiful clothes.

I think I like clothes like these because they are rather ‘girlish’ and sweet looking. If you are a plus size lady, don’t worry because at Simply Be, they do have Womens Plus Size clothings.Though these two tops, they only have from size 14-32, but there are clothes as small as size 10 to clothing at size 36.

Check out their maternity clothes collection. Made my old maternity clothes that I had seem shabby.

Thinking of my wardrobe and looking at these clothes…. hmm, perhaps it’s time to have a whole new wardrobe?  :)

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

With so many students applying for college nowadays, the competition is high, making it harder for even the highly qualified student to  be accepted to schools of their choices. The only way to be stand out among others is the initial grad school application essay.

Admissionessay.com is the website where you can find help in writing the best Personal Statement for school and college admission application. They consist of a group of professionals – writers, editors, admission officials and counselors- who will help you write an essay that will highlight your best personal qualities, you strength and your accomplishments.

There are two main services they offer. Writing from scratch based on your personal facts that you provide them or analyze and proofread an essay which you have written yourself. Regardless of what sort of school you are applying to, Business, Law, Engineering, Education, Science and more, they will be able to write a polished Personal statement that will help you shine through.

When one only wants to go to the best schools of their choice, it is definitely a worthy investment to pay for a well written admission essay.

Send chocolate gifts from anywhere.

Monday, April 20th, 2009

I have a pen friend from New Jersey who is celebrating her 28th birthday next week. I have not found anything yet for a gift despite having been thinking about it all week.

Photobucket

I was browsing a few gift websites online to see what I can send to her. Thinking about how much she loves chocolates, I visited Gertrude Hawk chocolate website. It is an online store selling delightful looking gourmet candies. Caramel dipped apples, milk chocolates, dark chocolate, chocolate pretzels, and other yummy candies you can think of.

I like the idea that other than being able to choose premade gift baskets,  you can customize the gift baskets by picking out the candies that you prefer or at least the ones that the receiver would like best.

I haven’t decided yet whether I’d like to send her something else instead, but Gertrude Hawk’s chocolates are still under  consideration.
